General Healthcare System

From March 1, 2019, the General Healthcare System (G.H.S.) will be implemented with the contribution of individuals, employers and the state.

Specifically, from the 1st of March 2019 to the 1stof March 2020:

  • Each employee will pay 1.70% of their earnings.
  • Each employer will pay 1.85% of each employee's remuneration.
  • Each self-employed person will pay 2.55% of his/her earnings.
  • Each pensioner will pay 1.70% of his/her pension amount.
  • Every person holding a position in office will pay 1.70% of his/her remuneration.
  • Each income taxpayer will pay 1.70% of their earnings.
  • The Fixed Fund of the Republic will pay 1.65% on the salaries and pensions of all beneficiaries.

From 1 March 2020 onwards the contributions will increase, as the G.H.S. will be fully implemented and beneficiaries will therefore enjoy full services from the system.

Each employee will be obliged to pay contributions of 2.65% of their earnings, each employer of 2.90% of each employee's earnings.

Each self-employed person earns 4% of his/her earnings, each retired person earns 2.65% of his/her pension and every person who holds or occupies any office at 2.65% of his/her earnings.

A percentage of 2.65% of their incomes will be paid by all income taxpayers and individuals.

Finally, the Fixed Fund of the Republic will pay 4.70% on the salaries and pensions of all beneficiaries.
